Fight for this love... ♥♥

I usually wouldn’t update this soon after I just posted something yesterday in the wee hours of the morning, but I am LOVING Cheryl Cole’s first solo single, called “Fight for this love”. It’s beautiful. Really. So, you can listen to it right here! And read the lyrics while you’re at it =0)

Love and sweetness,
>> Cotton Mary

Too much of anything can make you sick
Even the good can be a curse (curse)
Makes it hard to know which road to go down
Knowing too much can get you hurt.

Is it better? Is it worse?
Always sitting in reverse
It's just like we're going backwards.

I know where I want this to go
We're driving fast but lets go slow
But I don't want us to crash no.

Just know you're not in this thing alone
There's always a place in me that you can call home
Whenever you feel like we're growing apart
Let's just go back, back, back, back, back to the start.

Anything that's worth having
Is sure enough worth fighting for
Quiting's out of the question
When it gets tough, gotta fight some more.

We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
If it's' worth having, it's worth fighting for (Oh).

Now everyday ain't gon' be no picnic
Love aint no walk in the park
All you can do is make the best of it now
Can't be afraid of the dark.

If it's worth having, it's worth fighting for (Oh).

I don't know where we're heading
I'm willing and ready to go.

We've been driving so fast
We just need to slow down
And just role.

Anything that's worth having
Is sure enough worth fighting for
Quiting's out of the question
When it gets tough, gotta fight some more.

We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
If it's worth having, it's worth fighting for (Oh).

We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
It's worth having, it's worth fighting for (Oh...).

Think PINK!!

So, October is internationally known as Breast Cancer Awareness month. I don’t have any personal experience with the disease, thank God, and I don’t have a family history. But I do know a handful of people that have gone through it and survived it, and they are some of the people I admire most in this world.

Even though *breast* cancer is not in my family, cancer as a whole is. And big time. So I’m always encouraging my family members to get regular checkups of their entire body, just to be sure. I believe that early detection is the key to surviving most diseases, especially cancer. And for some reason, breast cancer feels very close to my heart, it always has. And I openly support Susan G. Komen for the Cure, it’s my favorite charity and I donate whenever I can.

I know I said in my last post that I would be talking about Emmy fashion or something, but seriously, life got in the way and suddenly I had no free time =(. But now I found a few minutes to dedicate to this precious and important cause, and I’d like to take advantage of them.

This is for all those women I know that bravely survived this monster and live proudly to tell their stories, and for those who got overpowered by it and rest their souls up above. This is for all those women that get regular checkups to prevent it, but also for those who don’t or can’t. This is for young girls that think they don’t have a business with breast cancer, wake up! Women as young as 25 years old have been diagnosed, that could be you. BE AWARE! RAISE AWARENESS! IF WE ALL WORK IN THIS TOGETHER, WE CAN BEAT THIS HORRIBLE DISEASE!

I leave you for now with some awareness ads, featuring some big female celebs that were kind enough to lend their faces for this purpose.

Until next time, much love and even more sweetness,
>> Cotton Mary

Rainy days and mondays...

So, I'm still getting used to the idea of having a blog. Nobody I know personally has one, so it's a new concept to me. But I like it, it's refreshing and it's helping me clear my head a little bit. Especially since it's Monday... and it's effin' rainy.

What a big weekend this last one was. Emmy weekend, to be precise. And when it comes to me, I was still recovering from a ferocious Divas Live on Thursday. It really *was* a big weekend for entertainment. And, of course, I'm gonna talk about it!

I'll start with Divas Live 2009. I don't think there were too many people out there who didn't watch, so I'll spare the readers some boredom and skip the full recap. I'll just say, I think it was the greatest Divas Live since the very first one back in 1998. You know, with Mariah, Celine, Shania, Gloria and Aretha. All the girls that get your attention even without their last names mentioned.

This year, it was the year of the young and rising divas. Adele, Leona, Kelly, Jordin, Jennifer and Miley. I'd say most of them are well on their way to be recognized on a first-name-only basis around the world. It's difficult for Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson though, but their painfully average first names should most definitely *not* be mistaken for their out-of-this-world musical talent. Which is not something I can say about a certain Miley, but I don't think her lack of talent even deserves a bigger mention over here. Hate is not the opposite of love, ignoration is. So, moving on.

The show was stolen though, in my opinion, by the lovely and talented Paula Abdul. I was seriously expecting a pleasant, albeit boring hosting performance, to be honest. But I should have learned after watching all 8 seasons of American Idol, that the name Paula Abdul shall not be written in the same sentence as boring. Oh, no. And I must say, boring was the last word on my mind as I watched the show Thursday night. The girl delivered, big time. I don't want to get all sentimental and mushy here, but she was like the whipped cream on top of a delicious frappuchino. You know, not precisely the essence or main focus of the beverage, but the final touch that although tasty on its own, makes the whole drink seem that much more appealing and gives it the final touch of class. And that was a big-ass sentence. But it's true. She was wonderful. And the Ellen impersonation was what I think took it to the next level. Parodic, but classy in every way, it showed how funny she can really be, without the pressure of having to please the higher ups at Idol and Fox and endure their alleged disrespect. You go, girl!

Check it out:

Now, I know I could go on all night about every single detail of it all, but I have some other things to do, so I'm gonna stop. And if I have some free time tomorrow, which is very likely, I'll go on to talk about what I liked and disliked about the Emmys last night. And trust me, that'll take a while hehe.

So, until we meet again... peace, love and sweetness,
>> Cotton Mary

Welcome!

So I finally decided to take the time and start writing over here. I love writing, but some things happened in my personal life and I had to put it off... until now.

So, welcome to Rose Colored Cotton!

I figured the first post should be about how this all came to life and how I came to create it, sound good? Yeah, I don't care, 'cause I'm doing it anyway hehe.

Let me introduce myself. I'm Cotton Mary, and that's about all I'm saying about me. Really. I'm paranoid about Internet people hunting me down and killing me, or so to speak. I will say, though, that I'm about 25 years old and I studied to become a publicist, but I'm a designer by heart. An *anything* designer, and I mean it. Fashion, web, graphic. And a face designer, or, more commonly known as, makeup artist.

I always wanted a place to go, where I could talk about everything and anything and not really be censored or punished for it. I'm a member of quite a few forums online that range from tv shows, to weight concerns, to fashion, and so on. But it's grueling to go from one place to another to write about different subjects, so eventually I became nothing more than a so-called "lurker" at all of these places. Recently, I began entertaining the idea of creating a blog of my own, where I could come and speak my mind and say what I think about virtually anything. And just over a week ago, I made the thought of it a reality. And this is it.

"Rose Colored Cotton" is the name I chose for my blog. Why? Well, you know that expression that goes something along the lines of 'reading something with rose colored glasses on'? It sort of means that you read something and try to find the positive and the best in it. I like to think of myself as opinionated, so I would very much like my readers to come here and read my posts with rose colored glasses on, and find the good in what I post; have an open mind to my opinions. And since I go by the name of Cotton Mary, well, you can guess by yourself why I went on with the name from here.

So, I wholeheartedly hope you enjoy this thing, and if you do, I promise to come here and write as soon as my hectic lifestyle allows me to. Until then, how about you follow me on Twitter and get to know me better? It's about as much information on me as you'll ever get! Minus my photo and exact location, of course ;) *Cotton Mary on Twitter*

Lots of love and sweetness,
